Cabaret Night 2011

Cabaret Night is on Thursday 10th November at 7.30 p.m. in the Main Hall.
This is a night when any performer can use the school stage in front of a large audience (last year sold out!) in the school hall. Students from all year groups will be taking part from some making their first appearance in a school show to some who are veteran Year 13 performers.
There is a mix of soloists, bands, school choir, dance and the school's Swing Band will also make an appearance to open the show.
Tickets are £5.50 Adults, £2.50 Student/Concession - the ticket price includes a glass of wine/fruit juice, food and nibbles on each of the tables and a selection of desserts.
There are a limited number of tickets for this event, if you would like to reserve some to collect on the night please email: fairless@bchs.essex.sch.uk or a student can purchase them at any morning break up to the morning of the event.

Today the Right Hon. Eric Pickles, MP for Brentwood and Ongar visited Brentwood County High School. After a chat with headteacher, Mrs. Carol Mason, he then discussed politics with some of our year 12 students. “From a council estate in Keighley to a Tory Minister is a one in a trillion chance” said Eric, in his discussion with the students. He was quizzed about his background and events and customs in the house. Our students now know why MPs never shake hands with one another. Do you?

Open Mic Night

The Open Mic Night was another huge success. Students from all year groups were involved, some singing for the very first time on a stage. The standard was very high and the audience were impressed and many acts drove listeners to stand a clap after the performance!

The day allowed student to learn about the local history of Brentwood but also looked at different types of writing styles to inform. World Challenge Kenya 2010

Eighteen students and three members of staff from Brentwood County High School pushed themselves to the limit as part of their World Challenge to Kenya. The challenge had in fact started 18 months prior to the trip leaving, with the students each fundraising over £3500 for the cost of the trip and the equipment they would use.

History made by Year 8 Rugby League team

History will be made at the end of August when Brentwood County High School's year 8 team becomes the first South of England team who will compete in the finals of the Carnegie Champion Schools' competition. The tournament is open to every secondary school in England, Wales and Scotland and is the world's biggest rugby League knockout competition with a total of 1,678 different teams taking part in 2010 from year 7 to 11.

Lille Day trip great success

This year, our fifth visit to Lille, got under way early Friday morning as 41 Year 10 and 11 students made their way to the shuttle at Folkestone.
The clear blue sky promised a fine day ahead. We arrived in Lille at 11 a.m. and immediately the students engaged in discovering the town and meeting people.
Schoolboy scores on England debut

Year 11 student Jonjo Shelvey scored on his England debut in the Victory Shield versus Northern Ireland match where the game ended 2-2. Head of PE Adrian Ackred, said "This is a very proud moment for him, his family and the school. I was pleased with his work rate, and to top his international debut off with a goal is the stuff dreams are made of."
He is also featuring in the second of three fixtures in the Victory Shield competition this Friday Sky Sports One 7.30pm

Following the disappointment in February when the trip party got no further than Stansted airport due to the appalling weather conditions, Mrs. Bower, Sra Barahona Gomariz and Mr. P.Fishleigh accompanied 25 Spanish students from years 8 & 9 to LLoret de Mar on the Costa Brava and enjoyed beautiful weather (24°C), good food (well, there were a few complaints!) and great excursions!
